Cutting the hole for the door was a tense moment. Despite hours of discussion and furious scribbling on scraps of paper, none of us really had any idea whether the house would fall down when we cut the hole, or not.

In keeping with our total disregard for the building plans, the walls weren't high enough to accommodate a full-sized door in the usual fashion (between the floor and the roof), therefore we opted for putting the door below the floor. This meant that we had to cut right the way through the bottom log and hope for the best. Thankfully the house didn't collapse, although there was a tremendous wobble when we chainsawed through the final log.
